Ephraim Dalrymple, (Sr.?)

December 3, 2007 by thewordfamily

Born on June 26, 1792 in Halifax Township,Windham County, Vermont. Died on April 22, 1856 in Potter county, Pennsylvania. He may be buried in the Old Second Street Cemetery. He was married to Abigail Bridgeman first on May 20, 1817 in Bainbridge, NY and then to Sarah (Polly) Bovier around 1842. He was the son of William Dalrymple and Mary Fairbanks Stacy.

The records that are out there are also showing a third wife(?), Sarah Goodwin Edsall, born in 1810 in Cheming County, NY. He was married to her in 1842 also.

I didn’t realize that Ephraim was such a popular name at this time, at least amongst the Dalrymple clan :-)

Children listed with Sarah Edsall: Mary Ann, 1844, Sophronia, 1846, Maria, 1848, Hannah, 1849, Ephraim, 1848.

FamilySearch and the Dalrymples

December 3, 2007 by thewordfamily

Just so there is no confusion about the information I am typing in here now I would like to point out that pretty much all the information I have gotten about the Dalrymples from this point on has come from FamilySearch.com.  Some I had gotten 20 years ago from the local temple but most of it has come from the internet. I have also used other internet services like RootsWeb to verify and confirm the best I can for now. If anyone decides that they need credit for the information I have gotten from any of these places please let me know and I will gladly give you that credit in the post that contains the info in question.

I have been told in the past who some of these people are and I have completely forgotten. All help will be appreciated. I’m thinking these are from a family reunion or just a get-together and one has the stamp on the back of Osgood-Galesburg, Il.

Dalrymple’s Hardware

It seems like Mom told me that her dad had a store in Illinois. Not sure where or how. I think Samuel Min nier also had one and he (Clyde) may have inherited it.

New Information

November 30, 2007 by thewordfamily

This weekend I will make some time to scan pictures and post them and I will also try and get the info I gleaned from rootsweb.com organized and posted. I found a lot of info there that was free. It carries a direct line of the Dalrymples back to Scotland in the 17th century. Also if things pan out on the Word side there could be some Welsh in our blood.

I’m not getting any comments so I’m not sure if anyone is actually reading any of this, but it makes for good practice.

Hopefully I’ll be getting some traffic since Cyndi’s List was kind enough to put this blog on her site(I submitted it, but still:-)). There’s a link on the sidebar, check it out, tons of resources and help just waiting to be clicked and read.
